NVTYLL WALL BALL SNYPR CHALLENGE #1

April 23, 2020 by webmester Leave a Comment

Using wall-ball is the best way to improve on stick work and hands, we always tell our players and our children alike to spend time outside of practice and games on the wall and now we can compete on the wall!

The NVTYLL board would like to offer a challenge to all NVTYLL players to get the free app SNYPR on their phones or parents phones (available for both iPhone and Android) and hit the wall. We have already registered each town as a team, teams are Boys and Girls combined, and have included the team list below.

The NVTYLL board has set the “Team Challenge” (1000 reps) from now until May 15th. Once setup on your phone the SNYPR app will alert your phone of future challenges from NVTYLL

But you don’t need to wait for NVTYLL to send out challenges. You will be able to see everyone that registers on your team and challenge each other. The app also has some cool region and global leaderboards that let you know how you rank against other SNYPRs. The more reps the better!

Below are the instructions on finding the app and getting set up as well as a link to the SNYPR page that shows you how to position the phone on your arm for proper rep counts.

Next steps are easy:

  1. Ask your players to download the SNYPR app and sign up (available for both iPhone and Android).

  2. During the in-app signup process, each player will be asked to enter a Team Code. Ask your players to enter your unique 5-digit Team Code in the app. Note – if a player has already downloaded and signed up for the SNYPR app, they can also enter your Team Code in the Settings menu (gear icon).

  3. Once they enter your Team Code, they will join your team (Team/Town Name) and be able to see where they rank vs. their teammates on the in-app TEAM leaderboard.

4.  Learn How to position your phone! Note that an old sock, bandana, or headband can work for attaching your phone! You may need to get creative.

NVTYLL Cancelled for 2020

April 16, 2020 by webmester Leave a Comment

Dear NVTYLL Boys & Girls Coaches,

It is with great disappointment that I write to inform you that we have made the difficult decision to cancel the NVTYLL season. While the VPA has not officially cancelled Spring high school sports yet, the window to get a season in has closed to where it is no longer realistic to field teams and put on games.

The latest Stay at Home order by the Governor now goes through May 15. As we all know, even if the stay at home order is lifted on the 15th, life will not immediately go back to normal. There will still need to be a slow and calculated return to group functions and likely there will still be some restrictions and precautions in place for quite a while. We have also heard from many towns that will not be allowed on their fields at all this season and certainly not until well after the order is lifted.

So, at this time, we have to acknowledge that we won’t be able to have a spring season by any normal standard. We also do not think it feasible to move the NVTYLL season into the summer months.
We do strongly endorse towns offering some sort of “in-house” lacrosse program in early summer, if and only if the COVID-19 environment improves and restrictions are lifted enough to allow it.

This decision was not taken lightly, and the mood of the board was somber and sad as we finalized this decision.

Please do not hesitate to send me any questions and concerns and I will do my best to respond.

Respectfully,

Andrew Everett

NVTYLL COV19 UPDATE | League Meetings Cancelled

March 13, 2020 by nvtyll_webmaster Leave a Comment

Coaches,

As a matter of prudence we have decided to cancel the boys (3/16) and girls (3/19) meetings next week. Packing coaches from all over the state into one room and then sending them back out to their communities holds potential risk.

Luckily most of what we need to cover in the league meeting can be handled via email or a distributed document. We will follow up this email with all the details of what we planned to discuss. In the meantime, there are a few essential things we need you to do or know:

Things we will need from you:

  1. Send us your updated coaching names and contact info. Please send ASAP to Shane Lawton at secretary@nvtyll.org. The current lists on the NVTYLL site need to be updated!
  2. Email Craig Benson at games@nvtyll.org the number of teams you will have at each age group and the level of each team. i.e. Shelburne will have one team at 5/6 at Div 2 and one at 7/8 at Div 1.
  3. Dates you can host and number of fields. i.e. Shelburne can host 5/16 and 5/30 with two full fields for 5/6 & 7/8 and two small fields for 3/4.
  4. Vote for new board members. We will distribute a link to a Google Form with bios and voting. Open Board positions are the Boy’s Director and an At Large position. Chris Lamonia from Mad River has submitted his name for the Boys role and Ben Moulton & Jason Pinard from Barre have offered to fill the At Large position with a focus on the girls side, while splitting the role.
  5. Vote Rutland Lacrosse into the league. This will be added to the voting form noted above. Full details of the proposal will be in more detailed league email.
  6. Register your teams and pay your league fees. Fees for 2020 are $500 for 5/6 & 7/8 teams. $180 for each 3/4 team. Send checks to Fitzy at: NVTYLL, PO Box 238, Colchester, VT 05446. If you need an invoice please reach out to Fitz at treasurer@nvtyll.org

Things to be distributed:

  1. Honor the Game Stickers. We have new ones with our new logo. These will be mailed or distributed at the opening jamborees.
  2. Mouthguards. Andrew has 1000 mouthguards. We will try to distribute if we do not have a later meeting.

Lastly, if you need or want to schedule midweek games, you will need to do so directly with other teams via phone or email. This is just one reason we need the coaching list to be accurate ASAP.

Thanks,

Andrew Everett
President NVTYLL

Code Of Conduct

The NVTYLL has adopted the policy and philosophy of the Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) with respect to “Honoring the Game” for all NVTYLL participants including players, coaches, officials, and spectators as follows:

PCA believes the time has come to unite behind a powerful new term, “Honoring the Game.” Coaches, parents, and athletes need to realize that an Honoring the Game perspective needs to replace the common win-at-all-cost perspective.
